Our aim is to ignite a spark in the next generation of chemists and chemical engineers. I would be honoured if some of my fellow Fuellers could join me at the Spark! Gala Dinner on Thursday 9 October at Salters’ Hall.

I know Fuellers are also deeply committed to encouraging young people to pursue careers in chemical engineering, and I believe this dinner would be a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and strengthen the wider livery approach to harness support for STEM outreach. It is also a great way to give people a great evening, so I do hope the Fuellers will consider taking a table.

We will be raising vital funds to expand the UK-wide reach of the Insitute’s outreach programmes, especially our Salters' Festivals of Chemistry, to students in areas that really need our help. For many of these young people, the biggest challenge to a career in science is that they just can't picture themselves in that role. Our Festivals allow them to step into a professional university laboratory, put on a lab coat, and work with advanced equipment. They also get to meet scientists and people in the industry, which really helps them imagine their own futures in STEM, and sometimes a site visit to a nearby manufacturing or research facility.
