The Fuellers Annual Thanksgiving Service and Affiliates Luncheon and Prizegiving took place on Monday 8th June. Donned with Fuellers umbrella’s to combat the rain the Master, Wardens, Chair of the Charitable Trust, representatives from our Affiliates and Fuellers processed from Trinity House to St Olave’s Church for the Thanksgiving service behind Beadle James Hasler. With readings from the Master Ashutosh Shastri and Senior Warden, Louise Thompson, the service was led by Reverend Phillip Dawson who highlighted that the church was about to celebrate its 75th anniversary of the laying of the first stone by the King of Norway, which began the restoration of the church after bomb damage during the war.
The Fuellers Charitable Trust is proud to support the annual prizes awarded to the Company’s military and educational affiliates. The Chair of the Trust, Chloe Andrews-Jones highlighted the importance of the Trust and the great work that they do not only on a financial basis but also judging competitions and mentoring students. Citations for the military were read by the Junior Warden, Dr Tom James and the educational prizes to Platanos College, City University, the Petroleum Operator prize and the Arkwright Scholars were read by Chloe. Prizes were presented by our Principal Guest Air Commodore Nick Huntley.
Nick commissioned into the Royal Air Force as a Logistics Officer in 1994 and has built a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years in logistics, air mobility, operational planning and strategic leadership. After graduating from the Royal College of Defence Studies, Nick was promoted to Air Commodore in 2024 and appointed Head of Defence Operational Energy and Support Futures, leading work on defence energy resilience and the energy transition.
We heard from both our Principal Guest who spoke about the importance of fuel supply within the military and the challenges they are now facing within the current geopolitical landscape and the Master who responded and thanked Nick for joining us. This event in the Fuellers calendar is a great opportunity to show our support for our affiliates and the importance of the Trust. We were delighted to see that so many Fuellers attended.
