| It is with great sadness I have to report that Liveryman John Spence died on Wednesday 26 August 2026. John was admitted as a Freeman on 6 June 1991 and enrobed as a Liveryman on 6 October 2004. He took over Alford Coal Supplied Ltd in 1994, remaining at the helm until he died. For the 2013 Lord Mayor’s Show he supplied one of their coal lorries for the Fuellers float as the Company celebrated the start of the mayoralty of Honorary Liveryman Dame Fiona Woolf. |

John presenting the historic ‘lump of coal‘ to the Master, Chloë Andrews-Jones at Election Luncheon held at Mansion House in April 2018[The Fueller 55 - July 2018] John was always a dedicated member and extremely proud to be a Fueller. After his wife Marjorie died on 24 February 2025 he attended last October’s Installation Dinner with his son Colin and daughter-in-law Sue. John’s funeral will be held at 1400 on Friday 25 September 2026 at Holy Trinity Church, Bilsby LN13 9PY [see map] and afterwards at The Corn Exchange, 9 Market Place, Alford LN13 9 EB [see map] Our thoughts are with all of John’s family. He will be greatly missed by the Fuellers. |
