Visit to Gaussfest: Electricity Day

Come and join the Master, Ash Shastri, and fellow Fuellers for an informal day at the London Museum of Water & Steam in Brentford, coinciding with its annual Gaussfest: Electricity Day.

Gaussfest brings together an extraordinary collection of experimental electrical equipment, with live demonstrations of Tesla coils, high-voltage multipliers, Van de Graaff generators and Wimshurst machines - including spectacular indoor lightning and high-voltage displays.

Why this is particularly relevant to Fuellers
The Museum occupies the former Kew Bridge Waterworks and is home to the world's largest collection of stationary steam engines. It provides a tangible energy story - from coal-fired steam pumping through diesel and electric machinery to the challenges of preserving and adapting industrial infrastructure today. There is also a natural cross-Livery connection: the Water Conservation Trust, established by the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators, supports education at the Museum, including STEAM Explorer and school bursaries.

The plan
This will be a deliberately informal, member-led visit rather than a formal Company function. We propose to meet at around 1100, explore Gaussfest and the Museum together and have an informal lunch. Fueller Tony Griffiths, whose company Olsights has its studio within the Museum complex, has also offered a short studio visit and introduction to some of the energy-transition work being undertaken there. The running order will remain flexible around the Gaussfest demonstrations, and members are welcome to stay until 1700.

BOOKING & JOINING THE GROUP

Please purchase your own Gaussfest ticket directly from the Museum: Gaussfest: Electricity Day - tickets.

Once booked, please let Tony Griffiths know that you are joining the Fuellers' party so that lunch and studio-visit numbers can be coordinated.
