Tony Sewell is an educational consultant with extensive experience in the Education sector.  He first trained to be a teacher at Sussex University and then working for many years in some of London’s most challenging schools.During this period he worked on his seminal PhD ‘Black masculinities and schooling’ which led to several key publications.  He founded Generating Genius in 2005 as a project aiming to help Afro-Caribbean boys, then the UK’s worst-performing group of pupils, to do well in science. It now mentors students of all BME backgrounds and genders from all over London and works closely with numerous big businesses.  Generating Genius has been supported for many years by the Fuellers Charitable Trust Fund.  In July 2020, Tony was appointed chair of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities tasked with looking into race disparity in the UK.  Their report was published in March 2021.
Tony was appointed CBE in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to education. On 16 December 2022, he was created Baron Sewell of Sanderstead, of Sanderstead in the County of Surrey.

Butchers' Hall is home to the Worshipful Company of Butchers, who can trace their roots back to an organisation of Butchers that existed in 975.  They continue to provide a centre-point to the British meat industry.  The Butchers have occupied several halls in their history losing one to the Great Fire and its successor to another fire.  The Company has occupied its current site since 1884, with its initial hall being bombed in both world wars.  The current hall was built in 1960 and has just undergone an extensive refurbishment.
