Whilst there are numerous pancake races held the length and breadth of the country, the Inter-Livery Pancake Race is one of the most visually spectacular of them all. Organised by the Poulters, the Gunmakers provide (and fire) the starting gun, the Clockmakers time the races and the Fruiterers provide the lemons to go with your pancakes, which are readily available from stands in Guildhall Yard during the racing.
The 2026 race is on Shrove Tuesday (17 February) and the Fuellers have entered a full team so will be represented in all four categories of races. The teams will be arriving and limbering up from 1115. They will then be briefed and psyched up by our Master & Pancake Captain Ashutosh Shastri ready to start racing promptly at midday.
The team needs your supprt as they race around the Guildhall Yard tossing their pancakes! Entrance is free and all Fuellers are encouraged to attend for however long they are able to.
Afterwards you can enjoy a hot buffet lunch in the Crypt at Guildhall, which is caterered by The Clink.
INTERESTED IN JOINING THE PANCAKE TEAM?
Each year the Fuellers enter a team of four in the Inter-Livery Pancake Races and the team is always on the look-out for new members. If you are interested in joining for either this year or in future years then please contact the Clerk. The four races are for Masters, Liverymen, Ladies and Novelty Costumes. *
Afterwards all team members receive lunch in the Crypt.* Novelty Costume entrants are asked to create a costume which should be themed of the Lord Mayor’s partner charities for his year (although some a extremely tenuous!) Examples can be seen by clicking here. There is also have a prize for 'Best Costume'.
