This will then be followed by a light buffet lunch and a behind the scenes tour of the nearby Blandford Brewery, home of the famous Badger Beer. Expect to depart by 1600.

VOITALIA SOLAR FARM
We are very privileged to get one of the first group tours of this recently completed 92,000 panel solar farm set in the Dorset countryside. The Master is very grateful to Past Master Deputy Shravan Joshi MBE CC who helped to facilitate this visit as the City of London Corporation has signed a 15 year contract to buy all of the electricity produced. The panels have a capacity of 49.9 megawatts, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 35,000 people. It will provide over half of the City Corporation’s electricity needs from 1 January 2023.
The Farm is run by Voltalia a French based group who is a major player in the international renewable energy sector. The Solar Farm started to operate from January 2023 and is being formally inaugurated on 16 June 2023.

THE BLANDFORD BREWERY
Hall & Woodhouse is a regional independent family-owned brewery founded in 1777. It operates over 250 public houses in the south of England and brews under the name Badger Brewery. We will start with a light buffet lunch and then have a guided tour of the behind the scenes operations of the Victorian Maltings and state of the art Brewery, which was installed in 2012, concluding with sample tastings.

The total cost for both visits and lunch is £32 per attendee.
The Solar Farm visit is free of charge; the buffet lunch is £17pp (drinks are extra); the Brewery tour with sample tastings is £15pp.

TRANSPORT
The recommended option is to come by car and arrive by 1045.
Train: go to Poole Rail Station, followed by a 25 minute taxi ride.
You need to make your own way by car from the Solar Farm to Blandford Brewer.  It is 4 miles away. view directions

DRESS
Sensible clothing and footwear are recommended.
It is expected that PPE clothing will be provided so we can get into and appreciate the facility and the site itself and its various components.
