'A Roadmap to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)'

The 19th Fuellers Annual Energy Lecture, inaugurated by The Lord Ezra MBE, was held at 1745 for 1820 on Wednesday 10 September 2025 at City & Guilds Building, Imperial College London. It was given by Professor Hervé Morvan, Chief of Future Platforms at Rolls-Royce's Advanced Concept and Future Proofing, whose subject was  'A Roadmap to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)'. The lecture will concluded with a panel Q&A session.

Hervé leads the company advanced concepts team at Rolls-Royce, working for the Group Engineering, Technology & Safety (ETS) directorate and reporting to the Group Director for R&T, on issues in the ‘beyond business as usual’ and topics pertaining to the future such as energy transition and future markets. Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Hervé spent 15 years at the University of Nottingham where he led the Institute for Aerospace Technology (IAT), receiving a personal chair in 2014 and being elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) back in 2016.

Professor Laura Mainini is the Chair in Aerospace Computational Design at the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London as well as the Associate Director for the Brahmal Vasudevan Institute for Sustainable Aviation.
Air Commodore Craig Watson MA BEng (Hons) CEng MIMechE RAF. Craig is Head of Engineering & Logistics in HQ Air Command. 
Alex Chikhani MBE is the CEO of CirculAIRity which was born on the premise of a long-term solution, which produces credible and scalable SAF at commercially competitive prices.
Moderator Professor Nigel Brandon OBE FREng FRS is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor of Sustainable Development in Energy.
