On Monday 4th November 2019, David Lewis, a member of The Worshipful Company of Fuellers, visited Platanos College. In the Reading Room, David Lewis introduced some of our selected pupils from Platanos College to the wonderful, exciting and ever changing world of energy.

We had a discussion about how energy is harnessed, from solar power to wind turbines and even geothermal energy. Mr Lewis also told us about the history of The Worshipful Company of Fuellers, and how they play an important role in the industry. He also talked about the controversy over fracking - a method of fracking oil, and how it is being banned in multiple countries. Furthermore, he spoke to us about how you could set up an offshore wind turbine and how much you would need - much more than just an architect and engineer.

The lecture ended with a fascinating discussion. It provided us with an incredible insight on the variety of careers within the energy industry, ranging from builders, marine biologists, and even lawyers.
